Is Coronavirus satanic?

While the Rev is anything but reverent, he is conscious of the suffering that is taking place around the world. Whether it is with those who are ill, those with loved ones who are ill to those who are suffering economically. The world is suffering.

The Coronavirus has represented a real evil not seen since the end of WWII; an evil very few will have experienced, at least in western civilisation. It may not compare with wars and statistically with less than 1% of the world’s population having contracted the disease, history may not consider it one of the greatest ills.

An evil it definitely is however. From what the powers-that-be lead us to believe it is essentially man-made, albeit through carelessness, rather than malice aforethought. Theologically, it sits comfortably within an explanation of “this present evil age” and the ultimate effect of the collective sin of humankind. But is it satanic? Is it a tool that Satan is using? Does it have its origin from the “accuser”?

While the Rev feels his light and pithy explanation is adequate, the question has been posed, so arguments must be drawn and evidence heard before making a decision on the matter. What we know is that it doesn’t appear to be as black and white as some in modern day Christendom would assert.

One of those is Tony Spell (Life Tabernacle Church, Baton Rouge, Louisiana), the man who’s mug you see above. He has made the claim about the Coronavirus and its origin, namely, the Coronavirus is from Satan.

He states, “Satan and a virus will not stop us … God will shield us from all harm and sickness … We are not afraid. We are called by God to stand against the Antichrist creeping into America’s borders. We will spread the Gospel.”

While he makes this statement, Spell nowhere explains what he means by this. The virus does not have an origin specifically and it doesn’t belong in any sense in God’s overall redeeming plan through His Son.  The virus is a smoke screen, a cover up, a simple tool that the authorities are using to limit Spell’s rights.

The store goes that the authorities asked Spell to not hold gatherings. Then arrested him …. for holding gatherings. These actions, according to Spell, demonstrate that Satan is attacking his church i.e. the virus driven narrative from the authorities is attacking him. The agenda of the “Coronavirus” appears to be trying to stop people going to Spell’s gatherings. That’s the claim he is making.

In sum, according to Spell, this “virus narrative” is satanic. Spell has the right to “Life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness” (is that from Mark chapter 17?) and the lockdown is limiting his right to practice “happiness”, therefore it must be Satan because ultimately Satan is the only one who wants to make Spell “unhappy”. Spell has a God given right, handed to him through the Constitution of the United States, which prohibits the government, in most cases, from interfering with a person’s religious beliefs or practices. Therefore, with the logic of 2 + 3 = 29462, the virus is from Satan.

There may be an argument for why the Coronavirus is satanic. Sadly, the Rev is not going to be able to have one with Spell.

There’s a much longer, drawn out interview here which the Rev encourages everyone to avoid, even now that you have so much time on your hands:
